Welfare Topics
The EURCAW-Aqua will develop and provide animal welfare indicators, welfare assessment methods and tools for the improvement of the welfare status of aquatic organisms. The 2024 Work Programme main tasks include:
- Identification of knowledge gaps regarding laboratory and operational welfare indicators at live fish during transport and at harvest
- Provision of a list of relevant welfare indicators for common carp and European sea bass during transport and at harvest
- Development an overall on-farm score for the evaluation of common carp welfare during transport and harvest
- Review existing welfare assessment systems and tools for farmed fish
